Ghanaian gospel powerhouse Gertrude Adotey Naa Akushika, widely known by her stage name Naa Shika and formerly celebrated as Mama Gee, has released a brand-new spirit-filled Worship Medley.
The powerful medley, produced by acclaimed sound engineer Gon Blaze, marks a soul-lifting return for the veteran worship leader and signals a new chapter in her ministry.
The new release is a deep, atmospheric worship experience that blends contemporary gospel with traditional worship – a sound Naa Shika has perfected over three decades. Designed to usher listeners into an intimate encounter with God, the medley showcases her anointed vocals, heartfelt lyricism and unmistakable passion for worship.
Speaking about her calling, Naa Shika has always maintained that her music is more than entertainment.
“I wanted my songs to depict not only my encounter but also God's sovereignty and love," she told Hashim News in a previous interview.
From Adabraka to the Air Force Band
Born in Adabraka in the 1970s and hailing from Osu, Accra, Naa Shika grew up in a home where music and faith coexisted in harmony.
The second of six siblings, she had her primary education at Derby Avenue Roman Catholic Basic School and completed secondary education in 1986.
Her musical journey was nurtured at the Opportunity Industrialisation Centre (OIC) where she served as a choir leader, before enlisting in the Ghana Armed Forces Band in 1995. She later moved to the Air Force Band in Takoradi, where her commanding stage presence and vocal power earned her the beloved nickname "Mama Gee."
With over three decades of service in the Armed Forces, Naa Shika has built an enduring legacy. Her debut album “Yesu Asor" released in 2004, was born out of a life-transforming prayer session and announced her as a vessel with a clear calling.
“It was during those formative years that I identified music as a powerful tool for communicating with God and sharing His love with others," she recounted.
A Vessel for Transformation
Naa Shika is not just a singer – she is a gifted songwriter, composer, performer and worship leader whose ministry has touched lives in Ghana and beyond.
Her genre, a beautiful fusion of contemporary gospel and traditional worship, appeals to all ages while staying rooted in authentic faith.
Beyond music, she is deeply involved in philanthropy and mentoring young gospel artists.
"I find great joy in sharing my experiences and assisting others in finding their voices," she said. "I want to lead people to Christ, encourage other Christians, and establish a successful music career that will positively impact the world."
On what’s next, the gospel minister revealed her desire to expand her reach:
"I plan to write and record more songs, collaborate with other artists, and pave new ways of worship. I wish for my music to be a source of comfort and remind people of God's sovereignty." she told Mr Impactful
The new Worship Medley by Naa Shika is now available on all major digital streaming platforms.
Produced by Gon Blaze, the medley is already receiving praise from worshippers for its depth, anointing and healing power.
