Public sector workers in Ghana will receive a 9% increase in total remuneration from January 1, 2027, following an agreement between the government and Organised Labour.
The adjustment comprises an 8-percentage-point increase in base pay and an additional 1 percentage point allocated to conditions of service.
Secretary-General of Organised Labour, Joshua Ansah, announced the agreement on Wednesday after a meeting of the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee. https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-2747074687754132
As part of the agreement, the two parties have also settled on a 10% across-the-board increase in remuneration for 2028, which will take effect on January 1 of that year.
The 2028 adjustment will be calculated using the applicable wage bill as of December 31, 2027.
The implementation of the agreement remains subject to the relevant legislative processes.
