Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah Parker has disclosed that members of the committee received $50,000 each as appearance fee for the FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with Medeama FM, the experienced football administrator and owner of Medeama SC clarified the monies that were paid to officials who served on the management committee during the tournament.
According to him, management members did not receive the same amount as players, but rather half of what the players were entitled to.
“Members of the Black Stars Management Committee received only half of the players' appearance fee, meaning each of us received $50,000. There was no per diem or winning bonus for the committee," Parker revealed.
The disclosure comes amid long-standing public debate over appearance fees, bonuses and per diems paid to players and officials of the senior national team during major tournaments.
Parker further disclosed that part of his appearance fee was used as offering to pastors who prayed for him and the Black Stars during the tournament.
“He further disclosed that the pastors who prayed for him and the Black Stars during the tournament were also given offerings from the same appearance fee received by him,” he added.
Parker, who has served on various Black Stars management structures, is one of the most experienced members of the team's backroom setup and has been part of Ghana's contingent to several AFCON and World Cup tournaments.
His comments provide rare insight into the compensation structure for non-playing members of the national team setup, an area that has often been shrouded in secrecy.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are yet to officially comment on the breakdown of appearance fees for the said World Cup.
