Legendary Musician Ebo Taylor's burial set for Saltpond on August 1



Legendary Ghanaian musician Ebo Taylor will be laid to rest on Saturday, 1 August 2026, in Saltpond after an illustrious career spanning more than six decades.

A private laying-in-state will be held on Friday, 31 July, before a burial service at Wesley Methodist Church, Saltpond, and interment at Victoria Park.

Ebo Taylor was one of the pioneers of Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeat, influencing the sound of African music for generations.

Throughout his career, he worked with celebrated musicians including Pat Thomas, C.K. Mann, and Fela Kuti, while helping shape the careers of many others. 

His music gained international recognition and was sampled by global artistes such as Usher, The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Rowland, Jidenna, Vic Mensa, and Rapsody.

Known for blending highlife, jazz, funk, and Afrobeat, Ebo Taylor inspired countless musicians across Ghana, Africa, and the rest of the world.

As Ghana honours Ebo Taylor, his legacy as a master of highlife, jazz, funk, and Afrobeat will continue to live on through his timeless music and the many artistes he inspired across Africa and the world.
