Hon John Justice Abban 'DJ' Launches Bid for NDC Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency Chairman

A new campaign poster circulating this week signals Hon. John Justice Abban's intention to contest for the position of Constituency Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tarkwa Nsuaem.

The poster, branded in the NDC’s signature green, red, white, and black colors, features Abban in a white traditional outfit against a backdrop of the party’s umbrella logo. It introduces him by his popular moniker, “Hon. DJ,” and carries the campaign slogans “Serving the Past, Present and the Future” and “Still Say DJ, Vote DJ.”

The role of Constituency Chairman is a key grassroots leadership position within the NDC’s structure.

The chairman oversees party organization, mobilization, and strategy at the constituency level, and plays a central role during both internal party elections and national election campaigns.

Tarkwa Nsuaem, located in the Western Region, is a key mining constituency and has historically been a battleground seat in Ghana’s general elections.

The NDC’s local executives are responsible for coordinating party activities, voter outreach, and liaison with regional and national leadership.

As of July 10, 2026, the NDC has not yet announced official dates for its next round of constituency executive elections.

Candidates typically release posters and begin informal campaigns ahead of the formal vetting and election process outlined by the party’s national leadership.

Hon. DJ’s poster is the latest sign that internal NDC contests in the Western Region are heating up. No official statement has been released by Hon. Justice Abban’s campaign team regarding his policy priorities or endorsements at this time.
