The Ghana Country Lead for the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAYE) Africa, Mr. Richard Addison, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) earlier today, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, laying the groundwork for what both sides hope will become a long-term partnership to advance youth and women-led enterprise in Ghana.
During the meeting, the CAYE Africa Ghana team held what Mr. Addison described as “productive discussions” with GEA officials. The agenda covered GEA’s existing programmes, implementation successes, challenges on the ground, and practical ideas to scale impact for young and female entrepreneurs across the country.
“I had the honour today of leading the CAYE Africa Ghana team on a courtesy visit to the Ghana Enterprises Agency,”
Mr. Addison said following the engagement. “We had productive discussions on GEA’s programmes, what is working well, potential implementation challenges, and practical ideas to maximize their impact for Ghanaian young and female entrepreneurs.”
The discussions centered on entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment opportunities for early-stage businesses.
Both organizations explored ways to align efforts to expand access to finance, business development support, and market linkages for youth-led enterprises.
Special emphasis was placed on creating inclusive pathways for female entrepreneurs, a demographic GEA has prioritized through its Women MSME Programme and other targeted initiatives.
“This is the beginning of what we hope will become a strong partnership focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, investment, and creating opportunities for young businesses across Ghana and the Commonwealth,” Mr. Addison added.
The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) is the apex governmental body mandated to promote and develop Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana. It provides business advisory services, training, and access to finance for entrepreneurs nationwide.
The Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAYE) Africa is a network under the Commonwealth Secretariat that brings together leading young entrepreneur organizations across member states.
CAYE Africa Ghana serves as the national chapter, advocating for policy reforms and building ecosystems that enable young people to start and scale businesses.
While no formal Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the visit, both parties indicated that today’s meeting marks the start of ongoing dialogue.
Expected areas of collaboration include joint capacity-building programmes, investment readiness support, and leveraging Commonwealth-wide networks to open new markets for Ghanaian MSMEs.
The visit comes at a time when Ghana continues to position entrepreneurship as a key driver of job creation, with youth unemployment and women’s economic inclusion remaining national priorities.
