Effia-Kwesimintsim MCE, Takoradi MP Throw Weight Behind Rising Talents Games 2026

The 2026 edition of the Rising Talents Organization Games received a major boost on Saturday as two top public officials turned out to support the youth football showcase.

Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Majeed Dokurgu, and Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, were present at the games, underscoring growing political commitment to grassroots sports development in the Western Region.

The Rising Talents Organization Games, held this year in Effia-Kwesimintsim, brings together juvenile teams and young footballers from across the region for a weekend of competition, scouting, and mentorship.

Organizers say the event aims to unearth the next generation of football stars while promoting discipline and teamwork.

Addressing participants, Hon. Dokurgu praised the initiative for “giving our young people a platform to dream and to develop their God-given talents.” He added that the Assembly remains committed to partnering with private groups to expand access to sports infrastructure and coaching.

Hon. Darko-Mensah echoed the sentiment, noting that football remains one of the strongest tools for youth engagement and community building. “When we invest in these young players, we’re investing in the future of Takoradi and the Western Region,” he said.

Beyond the matches, the Games featured coaching clinics and talks on education and personal development. Several scouts and academy representatives were also spotted at the venue, raising hopes for players seeking professional pathways.

Rising Talents Organization, the outfit behind the event, has run youth programs in the region since 2022. This year’s edition drew over 16 teams and hundreds of spectators, making it one of the largest youth football gatherings in the municipality so far.

The presence of both the MCE and MP signals a strong endorsement — one that organizers believe will help attract more resources and attention to grassroots football.

As the final whistle blew on this year’s games, the message was clear: youth development through sports is gaining ground in Effia-Kwesimintsim, and local leadership is paying attention.
