British Council and J. A. Kufuor Foundation Launch Mentor/Coach Academy to Shape Future Leaders

On Friday, 26th June 2026, a momentous event unfolded as the British Council, in partnership with the J. A. Kufuor Foundation, officially launched the Mentor/Coach Academy.

This innovative programme is designed to cultivate and empower the next generation of leaders through structured coaching and intentional mentorship, setting a new standard in leadership development across Ghana and beyond.

Among the distinguished mentors selected to guide this transformative initiative is Nana Kwesi Coomson, who shared his personal reflections on social media following the launch.

Expressing a profound sense of privilege and responsibility, Nana Kwesi highlighted the invaluable influence of mentorship on his own journey.

Drawing inspiration from his mentor Philip Osei Bonsu, he underscored a pivotal insight: “Speed is meaningless if it leads in the wrong direction.” This mantra encapsulates the academy’s philosophy—emphasising careful guidance over hasty progress.

The Mentor/Coach Academy aims to create a dedicated community of mentors and mentees who engage in purposeful, consistent interactions that foster growth, resilience, and strategic thinking.

By combining expertise, experience, and a passion for leadership, the British Council and the J. A. Kufuor Foundation intend to nurture leaders capable of navigating complex challenges with wisdom and foresight.

For emerging leaders, this academy offers not just knowledge transfer but a tailored coaching experience to align ambitions with sustainable impact.

The programme represents a forward-thinking approach to leadership that values intentionality and ethical guidance as much as achievement.

As Nana Kwesi Coomson steps into his role with a commitment to excellence, the Mentor/Coach Academy heralds a promising future where the mentorship dynamic is revitalised and expanded.

It stands as a beacon of hope for those who believe in transformative leadership and the power of guidance to unlock human potential.
