Partey, 32, who now plays for Villarreal after leaving Arsenal, is facing multiple rape and sexual assault charges in the United Kingdom.
The former Arsenal midfielder was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in July 2025 by London's Metropolitan Police, to which he pleaded not guilty in September of that year.
He was subsequently charged with two additional counts of rape in February 2026 and entered a not guilty plea in April. He denies all charges.
Despite being named in Ghana's squad for the tournament and arriving in Washington D.C. with his teammates on June 4, sources familiar with the matter, who are not authorised to speak publicly — have confirmed that Partey is unable to travel to Canada and will therefore play no part in the group stage opener.
Ghana are scheduled to face Panama at Toronto's BMO Field on Wednesday, June 17.
The Canadian government's guidelines state that individuals who have committed or been convicted of a crime may be denied entry into the country.
While Partey has been charged, he is currently awaiting trial and has not been convicted of any offence.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is yet to confirm or comment on the matter.
