Sekondi MP Nyameke Blay Armah Inspects Ongoing Basic School Renovation Projects

The Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon. Nyameke Blay Armah, today Monday September 28 inspected ongoing renovation works at selected basic schools across the constituency.

The inspection covered the first batch of schools earmarked for rehabilitation under the MP's education infrastructure improvement program.

Hon. Blay Armah, who is the current Member of Parliament for Sekondi Constituency, toured the sites to assess progress of work, interact with contractors and school authorities, and ensure that quality standards are being met. 

Speaking during the tour, the MP said public service goes beyond promises on paper.

"Public service is about showing up, listening, monitoring, and delivering. We remain committed to creating safe, decent, and conducive learning environments for our children," he stated.

The renovation exercise is aimed at addressing deteriorating classroom blocks, roofing, floors, and sanitation facilities in some of the oldest basic schools in the metropolis. According to the MP's office, the first batch is part of a phased approach to cover more schools in the coming months.

The project adds to Hon. Armah's sustained focus on education in the constituency. Since assuming office after his historic win in the 2024 elections — winning the Sekondi seat for the NDC for the first time in 28 years — he has undertaken several interventions including the donation of 300,000 exercise books to pupils in public and private schools and announced plans to provide free textbooks by 2028. 

School heads and community members who interacted with the MP during the inspection commended the initiative, noting that improved infrastructure would boost enrollment, retention, and academic performance.

Hon. Armah reaffirmed his commitment to continue monitoring the projects to completion and ensure value for money.
