Western Regional Minister Charges MMDCEs To Deliver Tangible Results At Executive Retreat

The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, has called for absolute unity and renewed commitment from Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to accelerate development across the region.

Speaking at the opening of a three-day Executive Retreat for MMDCEs at the Maaha Beach Resort in the Ellembelle District, the Regional Minister emphasized that the progress of individual districts is directly tied to the overall success of the Western Region.

“We are one regional team,” Hon. Nelson stated. “While our Assemblies may face different challenges, the progress of every district contributes to the overall development of the Western Region.”

The three-day retreat serves as a strategic platform for local governance leaders to honestly evaluate their performance, share administrative experiences, and identify critical operational gaps.

The ultimate goal is to design practical, immediate solutions to enhance service delivery for the citizenry.

Hon. Nelson outlined several key areas requiring urgent collaboration and action, including sanitation management, aggressive revenue mobilization, infrastructural advancement, youth development, environmental protection, and enhanced community engagement.

The Minister reminded the political heads that leadership requires active responsiveness and transparency, urging them to implement policies that yield visible benefits.

“Our people may not expect perfection, but they expect commitment, responsiveness, accountability, and results,” he remarked.

As the retreat gets underway, participants are expected to align local priorities with a broader regional development agenda. Hon. Nelson expressed optimism that the session would equip the MMDCEs with the clarity and energy needed to transform their respective assemblies.

“Let us return to our respective Assemblies with renewed energy, clearer priorities, and practical commitments to build a stronger and more prosperous Western Region. Together, we can do more,” the Minister concluded.
